Meet at Beit Elfarasha, in the most luxurious kitchen in Old Akko! We will meet Manar Kurdi, a local cook and hostess, who will teach us the secrets of the Akko cuisine. Together we will prepare:
- Stuffed vegetables: peppers, onions, zucchini, and eggplant
- Arugula salad with red onion, sumac, lemon,n and olive oil, eggplant in tahini, crispy pita with za’atar
- For dessert: Harisa
At the end of the workshop, we will sit down for a shared meal, and at the end, we will go on a half-hour tour of the Akko market, during which you will receive an in-depth explanation of special vegetables, spices, fish, and more. After the explanations, you can go on an independent and enjoyable shopping trip.
This is a wonderful opportunity to experience the diverse flavors of the city while getting to know local women firsthand and hearing fascinating stories about Akko’s rich culinary heritage.
A little about Beit Elfarasha: Cathy Raff, the entrepreneur and owner, fell in love with Akko many years ago. At Beit Elfarasha, she is fulfilling her dream of opening a complex where local women will share their love of local foods with guests from Israel and the world. Her ambition is to allow visitors to Akko to feel the place, experience daily life through personal meetings with residents, and get to know the unique multiculturalism that makes Akko a diverse, warm, and special city. Beit Elfarasha is located in a picturesque alley in the heart of the Old City, near the Mediterranean Sea and about a minute’s walk from the ancient sea wall. It is housed in a beautiful Ottoman building that was recently renovated. The entrance floor includes a modern kitchen where the workshops are held and a guest room for cultural events.
