Friday, May 23, 9 am – 2:30 pm, Mount Kammon
The Kammon Ridge is the highest in the Lower Galilee Mountains. Its peak rises over 600 m above sea level, and a rich and beautiful green forest surrounds it. Beautiful hiking trails surround it, and the view from them is one of the most spectacular in Israel. A total of 5 minutes from Karmiel.
Here, Jews (residents of Kamon and Mikhmanim) and Galilean Bedouins (residents of Kamanneh) live together.
The result is a perfect display of local tranquility and communal living like we only dreamed of. At least here it works beautifully!
Tour Guide Eitan Omer invites you to the meeting point at the train parking lot in the city of Karmiel. From here we will walk easily to the nearby lawn, where the “Beacon of Rebirth” monument stands, built by artist Niki Imber, an exciting site in the middle of the month of Iyar and a challenging year, oxygen for the soul.
After that, we will climb Mount Kammon and set off on a wonderful hiking trail that surrounds the village in the heart of the green forest, revealing from here and there the views of the Beit HaKerem Valley, the Sakhnin Valley, the Yodfat Mountains, and in general from the sea to the mountains. About an hour and a half of wonderful hiking at a medium difficulty level.
From here we will drive to the Al E’in Tent in Kamanneh, the “Bedouin’s Savyon” in Israel. Eid & Ekhlass Sawaid will host us in their spacious, air-conditioned tent.
On the menu: fatayer and manakish workshop – oven pastries of the Bedouin cuisine. Together we will prepare fatayer with various fillings (such as spinach and za’atar), and manakish with za’atar and olive oil.
At the same time, Eid will explain to us about the origin of the pastries and their cultural significance.
We will indulge in a Bedouin meal that will include, among other things: vegetarian maqluba, fatayer, manakish, authentic salads, drinks, and a sweet dessert.
In the end, Eid will tell us about the Sawaid tribe, whose fate is tied to the State of Israel, and about the Galilee Bedouin heritage.
The price includes a guided tour, accommodation, and a meeting at Al E’in Tent, a Bedouin pastry workshop, and a vegetarian and kosher meal.
Kosher by Rabbi Uziel Eliyahu, rabbi of the Misgav Regional Council.
