Tour & Workshop with Artists Paula Rykin & Edna Piorko in Gilon
Dates & Times
For each person, the word “home” holds a unique and personal experience, and in the last year, many more dimensions have been added to this concept.
On Friday, Paula Rykin invites you to her home — the physical house where she lives, and her village and community. For Paula, this is a special and exciting opportunity to combine creativity, friendship, and community.
During the tour, we will walk the “Trail of the First Ones” in the village of Gilon, and hear the story of its establishment, the challenges faced by the residents, and the impressive journey that the village has taken since then.
After that, we will visit the home of a local artist who will tell us about her works, and share with us the stories behind the pieces that decorate her home.
Finally, we will gather at Paula’s home and studio, for a wonderful workshop with her talented friend Edna Piorko. Together with Edna, we will create a small and minimalist world that tells a unique story for each of us.
Edna will tell her story and how she started creating miniatures that include ceramic parts as well as materials from nature. Each participant will choose three elements from the pieces that Edna creates (a small house, tree, etc.), and will assemble their miniature while thinking together about the composition of color, shape, and the atmosphere they want to create for the story!
Edna will provide the required materials. However, it is possible and desirable to bring additional materials you wish to incorporate into the miniature. For example a beautiful stone, seashells, a dried flower, a piece from a game or legos, a miniature figure, and more.
At the end of the workshop, each participant will take home their creation.
*Please note that in the workshop we will use pre-made ceramic miniatures and other existing parts. We will not create in ceramics! The parts will be glued and additions of color will be added as needed. The same goes for additional elements that you choose from the existing inventory or that you choose to bring from home!
