Iron, Fire & Glass ― A Rare Meeting of Artists in a Galilean VillageSat May 16
Dates & Times
In the beautiful Christian village of Fassuta, in the studio of the blacksmith Walied Khoury, two rare worlds of creation will meet: hot iron and transparent glass.
This is neither a tour nor a lecture ― it is a living sensory experience, in which you will see with your own eyes how a sculpture is born.
Walied Khoury ― Blacksmith & Sculptor
Walied will open his kiln and show how a cold strip of iron is transformed ― with his hands and fire ― into a living sculpture, using the traditional method of heating over coals. As he works, Walied will share his personal story and the path he took until he became a professional in this unique art.
Ariel Aravot ― Glass Artist
Ariel, a glass artist whose work is exhibited around the world, will bring a whole world with him: a little history of glass, its connection to the Land of Israel and the Galilee, and then a light and fascinating demonstration ― how a recycled glass cup is transformed into a unique art instrument, using a special burning technique.
