Junk To MagicFri May 15
Dates & Times
Sometimes all it takes to create change is to look differently at what is already in front of us.
Artist Paula Rykin, from the Tin Time Studio, will share the story of her personal journey into the world of sustainable design in an intimate and inspiring meeting, in which she will share the story of her personal journey into the world of sustainable design, how working with reused raw materials became a way of life, a powerful tool, and a space for growth for her.
Through examples from the studio’s work, we will delve into the idea that environmental and social change begins first and foremost with a change of perspective ―the ability to see an existing material, a limited resource or a challenge, as an opportunity for creation and growth. In a world of uncertainty and change, creativity is not a luxury ― it is a resource of resilience.
We will talk about reusing as a practical tool for sustainability and not just a slogan, about creativity as a human ability that helps us deal with changes, solve problems and develop a sense of competence, and about the connection between creative processes and strengthening community ties.
In the last part of the meeting, we will move from inspiration to action: we will experience working with reused raw materials from the studio, and each participant will create a small personal collage ― a tangible souvenir of the idea that it is possible to create magic from what exists, because magic begins the moment we choose to see a possibility instead of a limitation.
