Between the Secrets of the Forest & Flavors of the FieldFri May 15
Dates & Times
A magical tour in Abirim with tour guides Karmit Arbel and Dor Pintel from Laga’at Basade.
There are places where silence allows the heart to beat at a different rhythm. We invite you to join such a day in Abirim – a day that begins with a cup of Amon coffee, ends with baking patisserie on the tava, and in the middle of lots of nature and medicinal plants.
Our morning will begin at the Hefer Farm, inside a magical and unusual cafe founded by the couple Edna and Eyal Hefer. Here, there is no cash register and no waiters. The place operates on the basis of pure trust and self-service – you are invited to make yourself a fine coffee, assemble a sandwich from local goat cheeses or savor ice cream, and leave the payment with love. This is a place of giving, maintained by remote control for almost two years, while Edna and Eyal dedicate their lives to a year of service to adults in the Gaza Envelope.
From the tranquility of the farm, we will glide into the green heart of the Galilee. We will walk along hidden local paths, where nature is revealed in all its glory. Among the oak trees and the tangled grove, we will get to know the medicinal and foraging herbs that grow under our feet, and we will receive a “short wash” of a forest shower. The road will lead us to the ancient and mysterious fortress, an impressive historical place after which the village of Abirim is named.
The journey will continue with a short and comfortable walk to Dor Pintel’s farm Laga’at Basade. There, among the fresh vegetable beds, we will feel the earth in our hands as we pick lettuce and crispy vegetables straight from the field. Together, we will learn the secrets of making fatayer – a fragrant local pastry filled with herbs that we will prepare on tava, dip in local labneh, and relax with herbal tea full of health and medicine.
We will end the day around a table, when Dor will share with us his exciting personal story and the creation of his special agricultural venture. This is a day of getting to know plants, human encounters, wild nature, and flavors that expand the soul.
